Heartbreakers #2

Once Upon a Sure Thing

Rate this book
It's so easy being best friends with a gorgeous, talented, charming guy.

Said no woman ever. Except me.

My friendship with Miller is a sure thing — he’s my plus one, my emergency contact, and my shoulder to lean on. He’s also been by my side helping me raise one helluva awesome kid who’s the center of my world.

Nothing will change our easy breezy friendship. Until I have the bright idea to convince him to start a new band with me.

Trouble is, our sizzling chemistry in the recording studio is getting harder to ignore, no matter how risky it might be.

***

Sing sexy songs with the woman you’ve been lusting after? Get up close and personal as you croon to the woman you’ve wanted for years?

Piece of cake.
NOT.

Performing with the sweet, sassy and insanely wonderful Ally is like one gigantic obstacle course of challenges for my libido. And my libido is one sexy love song away from kissing her senseless and taking her home.

But, I’m not a serious kind of guy, and she’s not a one-night-stand kind of woman. If we cross the horizontal line, we might risk our sure thing and end up out of tune forever...

Looking for your next book boyfriend? Well, step right up because Miller Hart will make you swoon! He's a classic Blakely hero....a sexy alpha with a filthy mouth. But what sets Miller apart from all others is his tenderhearted, loving side. He's like a fine piece of chocolate....firm on the outside (just like his washboard abs) but super gooey and yummy on the inside. Miller literally melted my heart, page after page! His dedication to his best friend Ally and her niece Chloe as well as his brothers and his nephew was heartwarming. Miller and Ally had a chemistry that simmered below the surface from the start. Their love story built to a sexy crescendo and I'm pretty sure I fell in love right alongside them. They really were just perfect for each other. Their love story was beautifully written and I was invested in these two characters from the first page. Best friends to lovers is one of my all-time favorite genres and Blakely once again nailed it flawlessly.

While Once Upon a Sure Thing is the second book in the Heartbreakers series, it can be read as a complete standalone. New readers will be introduced to a wealth of characters while those who are already invested in the series will be excited to see their favorite characters reappear. Blakely gives readers the perfect love story with an HEA ending while whetting appetites for what's to come in the final book in this series, Once Upon a Wild Fling. In a nutshell, Once Upon a Sure Thing has everything you could want in a sexy rom-com from Lauren Blakely and it's a definitely 5 star must-read.

It is impossible not to smile while reading about Miller and Ally in Once Upon A Sure Thing. They are honey and sugar dipped in sunshine.

Where Campbell Hart is the older, dirty talking Heartbreaker, Miller is the middle, happy-go-lucky Heartbreaker. I'm now intrigued as to what Miles, the youngest Heartbreaker will be like, but this review isn't about him, it's about dreamy Miller.

Once Upon A Sure Thing is the second book in Lauren Blakely's feel good romcom Heartbreaker series. This book is filled with all kinds of perfect from beginning to end. A friends to lovers story involving a former teen rockstar and a YouTube singing sensation, but like the first book, it is filled with family and real world obligations. The combination is pure magic, plus I felt as if I could run into Miller and Ally on the streets of NY I felt so at home with both of them.

It's been six years of a steady friendship for both Miller and Ally and neither want to lose what they've built, but once the flood gates open it's hard to stop the water from flowing over the dam.

Miller could finally have everything he's been missing since his brother's disbanded Heartbreakers by singing with Ally, but he's also never been able to keep a long term relationship. He's not sure he can handle both a professional and personal relationship with his best friend.

Ally always has to think of her niece first. As her guardian she can't parade men in and out of her life. So jumping into something with Miller isn't something she takes lightly, plus she would hate to lose him as her friend. Perhaps she should just keep things professional where he's concerned.

When their singing lights up the internet with #arethey or #aren'tthey comments, both Miller and Ally begin to wonder why they are just friends instead of friends with benefits.

Heartbreakers is a series of stand-alones about 3 brothers and once again Lauren Blakely has shown why she is the queen of romantic comedy with this best friends to lovers funny romance. This series has characters you will fall in love with, you will laugh with them and you will feel their pain because as always these guys are easy to connect with. Miller is easy to swoon over he has a sense of humour a dirty mouth and he loves music and it’s his love of music that has him looking for a girl to sing with what he doesn’t expect is for his perfect singing partner to be his best friend Ally under the alias of Honey Lavender one hot song has sparks flying, the chemistry is sizzling and the witty banter adds the perfect amount of humour to this book that I couldn’t put down it’s fast paced yet the romance is a slow burn with two friends juggling the should we or shan’t we take our feelings to the next level and what can I say about Miller and his dirty mouth apart from this author has hit the nail on the head with Miller and Ally’s romance but it’s not just about them who can forget the adorable little girl that Ally is responsible for because she has some classic one liners that you won’t forget, just when you think you have read the best from this very talented author bam she hits us with another set of characters we will fall in love with and now we are left waiting for a few more weeks to see where we are going to be taken with Miles and Ben’s story and I for one can’t wait for that one.

5 #Hotstuff Stars!
I am a huge fan of friends to lovers romance and I absolutely loved Ally and Miller's story! They have been best friends for over six years and have suppressed their feelings of attraction. Now that they have a chance to sing together, their chemistry ignites, and makes it impossible to ignore. There is so much at stake for them, and others if they fail, but they're powerless to resist any longer. Ally and Miller are both great characters. They are kind, thoughtful, funny, and love their families completely. Ally is raising her niece after the sudden loss of her sister, and is totally devoted to her. Miller has been there for them both from the beginning, unconditionally. Their relationship has always been natural and easy. But now that they discovered their voices are perfect together, that easiness has turned into something more passionate, and powerful. Wow, the heat that Blakley creates between Ally and Miller is so palpable it leaps right off the page! I loved the evolution and allure of their relationship, it was totally captivating. The quick wit and banter between them and their friends and family is as fun as ever. I loved all the pop culture references making this story even more entertaining. It was fun catching up with the characters from the first book and getting to know their brother Miles as well. This is a delightfully sweet and steamy romance and series! I can't wait for Miles and Roxy's story next!

Hot Stuff!

I loved Campbell and Mackenzie, in Once Upon a Real Good Time. Then Lauren goes and ups her game with the friends to lovers trope with Miller and Ally. I mean how could you not fall in love with these two?

He holds up a finger. "I have a hunch craft stores are frequented by the Fifty Shades crowd." I laugh. "DIY BDSM-ers?" He wiggles his eyebrows. "Ribbons are for tying pretty wrists."

From start to finish, I love the sexy, flirty banter- chemistry between Miller and Ally. I love that when Lauren writes friends to lovers trope, the timeline isn't just said, it's seen and felt with how the characters are building and unfolding within their own story.

Once Upon a Sure Thing was not only a fun, easy read, it's sexy. These Hart brothers have a way with words and I'm not just talking about their musical talent. *Wink. Wink.*

Lauren has delivered another hit. I not only encourage you to read this book, I highly recommend you take this sexy musical adventure and meet the Heartbreakers. They are so worth the tunes...

Ally and Miller.

They've been best friends for six years. They do everything together.

But they never crossed that friendship line to romance.

And now they might add co-workers to their resumé. Miller wants to go back to being a part of a band like he used to be with his brothers. But this time he wants to try a duet with a woman (mostly because his brother Campbell doesn't want to revive the band).

Enter Ally. They tried it a few times at karaoke bars or for christmas, but he was just to rockish for her churchy voice. But she really wants this job - and the money would be nice too ....

What will happen with Ally & Miller?
Will there be a HEA?
READ THE BOOK TO FIND OUT! ☺

Awww, that was adorable!

Such a sweet and fun friends-to-lovers romance!

Funny, sparky, sexy, cute.

I just adored those two!

It might take them a while to be brave enough to try that romance thing. They've been attracted to each other since the day the met, but then they did the friendship thing and it's too precious to risk... They just don't want to lose their best friend.

The reader has an amazing time watching them fight for their happy end!

Really Great romance!!! I just loved Ally and Miller - and the kids and siblings and friends!

I wouldn't mind seeing this on Netflix one day!

Can't wait to get Miles' story asap! And it will be almost asap - only 2 weeks until book #3! ☺

ONCE UPON A SURE THING was such a fun and adorable & sexy & musicy love story!! Run to your nearest amazon asap for your own Miller - this one is MINE !!!

P.S. ... can we take a second - or an hour - to lovingly gaze at those amazing abs on the cover!!! Grrrrr. 🔥🔥🔥

4.5 Six Years In The Making Stars
* * * *1/2 Spoiler Free
What is it about Best Friends...Especially if they are the opposite sex...Billy Crystal said in When Harry Met Sally...basically all men look at women and think about doing them...That sex is never off the table...But when a man is friends with a woman with no Bang Bang...It seems that this relationship becomes so special, both will do whatever is necessary to hold on to it...Even deny the possibility of being attracted to each other.

This is the predicament our two best friends find themselves in...Miller is best friends with Ally.
They met over six years ago and somehow it was decided they should be friends...after all, they both have a sense of humor that answers each other's sentences...They both are singers but couldn't sing together if their lives depended on it...And they both adore Ally's niece who Ally has taken on as her own daughter.

Ally is a voice actor for audiobooks. Due to her clear clean voice, she has specialized in doing Young Adult books. She also had a YouTube channel where she sang with her brother. The channel added to her income providing all the extras she loved giving her niece. Now her brother has found His One and the couple are moving away. Ally is happy for them but unfortunately, this leaves Ally without the extra income the YouTube channel provided.

Miller has been living like a man with a lot of time on his hands. He is basically happy; he has taken the time to help a young boy through the Big Brothers organization. They have become very close, like real brothers. The kid is now getting ready for college and has become talented with a camera. Miller still has a bit of a hole in his heart, though.

you see, singing with his brothers on stage was EVERYTHING.
Music flows through Miller.. it is his life's blood. It is what keeps his heart beating and his mind thriving. Campbell has known this and suggested Miller think about venturing on a new track...to think about singing as a duo...singing with a woman.

Miller shares this idea with Ally and she gets a twinge...This could be something she could do...She just needs to figure out a way to show Miller she had the right sound.

Ally's Smart mind comes up with a smart way to make it all happen...and then reality sets in...
All Miller can think about while singing with this New Ally is how hot she is and how much he wants to kiss her...Ally is having her own desires...Leaning into the man who has always been there for him, feeling his hard body next to hers while hitting those sultry notes is making her need new panties.

What to do...Their musical chemistry is off the charts...Their sexual chemistry is equally hot...What will happen with their oh-so-important best friendship...That is the predicament.

These two were very cute. They were cute on their own and together.

Ally cared for her niece as if she was her mom and hoped the niece felt as loved and secure as she deserved. The little girl had lost her mom in an awful accident so the scars were still something to deal with. Risking the solid relationship she had with Miller would impact her niece. It made Ally wary of pursuing anything real with Miller. Miller on the other hand wanted all in with Ally. After the shock wore off that his long-dormant feelings for Ally had finally surfaced....with a chance of taking hold, he wanted All In.

There was a real sweetness to this entry. Both of the main characters were people who were able to find joy in almost everything. The sexy times came and they had their own special chemistry.

All of the family ties are part of this book. You feel all the love and camaraderie between all of them; the brothers, the girlfriends, and the kids.

The next entry will be Once Upon a Wild Fling (Heartbreakers #3), Miles' story.

- Who is the Hero? Miller Hart Age: early 30’s, I think, Occupation: musician
~ Miller was in a very famous band with his brothers (the Heartbreakers), but they’ve amicably gone their separate ways. Miller knows he wants to make music again, but he’s floundering a bit on exactly what that will look like.
For the past ten years, Miller has been a big brother to Jackson (who is now 17).
- “I can’t believe I’m about to say this, but my older brother knows me well. He knows what my soul needs—to make music again. Since that won’t happen with the Heartbreakers, the band my brothers and I played in for years, I have to choose Plan B. I need to start a new band. Campbell has been encouraging me.”

- Who is the Heroine? Ally Zimmerman, Age: 31, Occupation: young adult book narrator
~ Ally is an audiobook narrator with a successful career. She also sings in some You Tube videos with her brother. Her sister died six years ago, and she has been the guardian of her 11 year old niece since that time.

Plot overview:
~ Miller has decided to take his brother’s advice and start a new band with a female vocalist. When he stumbles upon a voice that is exactly what he’s looking for, he’s shocked to find out it belongs to his best friend Ally.

Miller and Ally have been best friends for six years, so this foray into singing partners gives both of them a little trepidation.
~ “Singing with your best friend seems like a surefire way to torpedo a relationship”

But, once they start singing together it’s obvious they have some serious chemistry and that can’t be hidden any longer.

~ “When she smiles at me, I know. I fucking know. I’ve fallen for my best friend. Too bad I have no clue how to get off the desert island with our friendship intact”

** The following are my thoughts about this book: **

* * I was disappointed this was such an expected plot. Nothing unusual -
1. We can’t be more than friends because we’ll lose or friendship
2. We can be friends with benefits
3. I love you but I can’t tell you I have deeper feelings, so we will have to stop the benefits
4. Someone else points out the obvious
5. They admit their feelings and live HEA

* * This was pretty low on character depth, which made it seem somewhat shallow.

* * it’s pretty low on angst. Except for the small part where they can’t be honest with each other about their feelings, there is pretty much zero angst.

* * if you’re looking for a light beach read - this would work

* * the ending seemed like a 180 shift in where I thought the book was going. To have the character from book one completely change his mind and decide to team up again with Miller just seemed odd. Of course, if you didn’t read book one, this probably wouldn’t bother you.

**Overview:**
- Content Warning: loss of sibling (off page)
- Do you need to read previous books in series?: secondary characters from book one appear, but it’s not necessary to read that book before this one
- POV: Dual POV
- Tropes: friends to lovers
- Hero likeable? yes I liked Miller
- heroine likeable? yes, I liked Ally
- h virgin? No
- First time they kiss: 53%
- First time they sleep together: 75%
- Safe sex? before they did anything they had the “clean” and birth control discussion. They decided not to use condoms.
- First time they say I Love You 91%
- steamy? Yes. Descriptive bedroom scenes
- Chemistry? I thought they had great chemistry and fun conversations
- OW/OM drama? No
- H/h cheat? No
- Time apart? Nothing significant
- Did I skip pages? No
- Big secrets? No
- Did I cry? No
- Did I laugh? I smiled a bit. Miller and Ally both had some good one-liners
- Did I swoon🥰? Yes. Miller was pretty swoony
- Cliffhanger? No
- HEA? Yes
- Epilogue? several months later
- Recommend? it was ok. Nothing deep. So, if you are in the mood for a light, low angst book, this would work.

Quotes:
“I’m a fossil. I’ll be eligible for carbon dating in a few more months.”

“Rubbing my thumb over the gold, a rush of emotion blasts through me, that wild sensation like I’m a bottle of soda about to do the Diet Coke and Mentos dance.”

“What’s a five-letter word for where I plan to spend the rest of the night?” he says as he answers.”
“A laugh bursts from my chest. “I have no idea. Couch?”
“Nope. Inside you.”
I count off. “Miller,” I say, deadpan. “That’s nine letters plus a space.”
“Oh, excuse me. I meant p-u-s-s-y.”
My jaw drops. “You’re filthy.”
In an ever-so-innocent voice, he says, “I spelled it out.”
“Oh, well, then you’re a cupcake.”

The Heartbreakers are great

Another fantastic audio and I again have to thank Lauren Blakely, Sebastian York and Andi Arndt for their efforts. This dynamic trio really knows how to satisfy my romantic heart. The pacing is perfect, the characters are awesome and the storyline kept me entertained from start to finish.

Can best friends eventually fall in love? Well, in this case, they can. What made this one believable was that there was an initial attraction from the very beginning between the characters. To me, this is more believable because I find it hard to believe you can all of a sudden find someone you've known for years attractive. It makes sense to be attracted to someone but at that initial time, not be in the right place or mindframe to be in a relationship. These two seemed to realise at the same time that NOW was their perfect time.

I love the dynamics of the brothers finding love and helping each other through the highs and lows of connecting with your one. It's also awesome that the children in these stories are part of it all, not just an extra bit hovering on the sidelines. I will definitely be going on in the series because I love Lauren Blakely's style of writing.

“Let me just kiss you for a while.”

Once Upon a Sure Thing by Lauren Blakely is chock-full of sexy, sweet, and swoony GOODNESS! Miller and Ally are two people you will want to root for instantly. Their chemistry and their banter in their friendship felt easy and light, but everything changes when they start singing together. Emotions and bonds grow, vulnerabilities are shared, the line they thought they drew a long time ago…shattered. Six years is a long time staying in the “friend-zone”. The chemistry is there. The admiration is there…the respect…their hearts are even in the game. It’s their head, their mind that’s getting in the way of their happily ever after. They might have entered into a temporary arrangement, but neither of them are paying attention to the clock when the music is between them.

If you’ve read my reviews in the past, you know that I think Lauren Blakely is an absolute powerhouse in the romance genre. Ally and Miller’s beautiful love story proves that to be correct. She brings us page after page, chapter after chapter of love, laughter, sex, and romance. It’s the perfect combination and the perfect recipe for a bestselling romance read. If you haven’t experienced your happy place in a while, GRAB THIS BOOK…or grab anything by this author because she will take you there with such ease, you won’t even remember a time when weren’t on cloud nine reading this woman’s words…getting absolutely lost in her beautiful storytelling.

Cute
[image error]

This was a sweet, charming story about two friends who, of course, .

Nothing special, really. It's your typical, cliche romance. A pretty forgettable read. Now, that's not necessarily a bad thing, it's an easy, fast read and that is perfect for certain moments. I am a bit disappointed though, expected a bit more from Lauren Blakely, but I guess you can't win them all, right?

Worth reading if you have nothing better to do.

***Coming Soon - FULL REVIEW ***

5 Snowy CROWNS

With each book in this series of standalones, Lauren Blakely solidifies that this is without a doubt my favorite romcom not only of all her books but one of my favorite romcoms ever. She has hit the trifecta of lovable characters, insane chemistry, and equal parts hilarity and steamy goodness. I cannot get enough of the Hart Brothers.

Lauren Blakely has created another hero and heroine to fall in love with. Miller is just swoon worthy with his boyish charm and love of music! I adore everything about him. His care for others in his love, his zeal for music, and his overall affable personality. Readers will not be able to resist his charms. Ally is such a fun heroine as well. Her interactions with Miller show us her fun side, and her care of Chloe shows us how big her heart is. What is going to sell readers, though, is the dialogue between these two and some of more racier escapades to grace a Blakely romcom.

In addition to a fantastic heroine and hero, Blakely has a knack of creating a world of characters readers fall in love with. With each book, the cast grows and grows. Front he kids to the siblings to the fellow employees, she gives us a family in a stand-alone series, and I find myself relishing the moments with the group as much as I do with the Miller and Ally.

This book moves incredibly fast in terms of pacing. Even with the quick transitions, Blakey still fixes readers the time to get to know these two as people and friends before getting to the lust and love. While the conflict is to be expected and is not overly dramatic and resolve quickly, I found that I didn’t mind it because it just fit them. The climax of the novel fits their insecurities and characterization, and the resolution is so spot on for what these two want for themselves and their future that I was just caught up in the moment.

I’m the Hartbreakers #1 fan!! Lauren Blakely has given me a new boy band and a new romcom world to adore, and I never want the tour to end!

ARC received for an honest review

It has been a long couple of weeks since we read Once Upon A Real Good Time, and I have been sitting by my kindle waiting for One Upon A Sure Thing to get here.

We got a bit of a Ally and Miller in Campbell's book, but what Ms Blakely has given us is so much more than I was looking for.

I am a big fan of friends-to-lovers stories. The UST between this pair is

I love how they fight for the HEA, knowing that it could end their best friend-ship if things go south. As I reader I was their biggest cheerleader, they needed to take things to the next level, if only for my sanity!

I loved the brothers/kids/friends and their banter. They made me laugh so hard at times. I need to be part of their circle!

This was just a perfect, sweet, beautiful romance that left me smiling well after I had finished it.

Now I neeeeeed Miles' book ASAP!

This friends-to-lovers story is low on drama and high on humor—just how I like it. Lauren Blakely continues to impress with this series about three brothers who used to be members of a famous teen boy band. Single parenthood is integral to each brother’s story, and these sexy former pop stars are blessedly allergic to one-night stands.

It is impossible to dislike Miller. The man is perpetually upbeat about life in general and wrings every ounce of enjoyment out of the simplest of tasks. He is pretty much the full package—funny, talented, generous with his time, and always supportive of those he loves.

Ally is a loyal friend and a completely awesome guardian. Raising a tween girl is not easy, but Ally is determined to kick butt at this single motherhood thing—even if it means sacrificing some of her own desires.

I absolutely loved the ease of Miller and Ally’s friendship. They speak their own language, and their relationship has always been a little bit goofy and a little bit flirty. The transition from friends to lovers tends to be abrupt with this trope, and it’s a bit like flipping a switch here as well; however, it’s handled in a clever way. Miller and Ally have a certain snap, crackle, and pop that’s very appealing. Their chemistry as singers is also wonderful.

Even though their misgivings about being a couple are settled suddenly, I loved the heat and humor of their romance. Had I not read the previous novel, the solution to Miller’s professional problems would have been more satisfying because…duh. That particular aspect left me feeling lukewarm, but it didn’t dampen my overall enjoyment of the story.

Friends to lovers is one of my very favorite tropes and Once Upon a Sure Thing did not disappoint! Ally and Miller were introduced in Once Upon a Real Good Time, but this book can definitely be enjoyed without reading that first. I do recommend it though because previous characters do appear throughout this interconnected standalone series.

Ally and Miller were such a sweet and sexy couple. I loved their banter and all the little things they did for each other. Their chemistry was always simmering right under the surface and it made the eventual boil over so delicious. The easy nature of their relationship and the deep love they shared for each other made them such a wonderful pair. Miller's dirty mouth didn't hurt too ;) Yes, there is some push and pull as these two wrestle with their feelings and fears of ruining their friendship, but I really liked that the drama wasn't overblown and resolved in a way that felt true to their original relationship. Above all else, Miller and Ally are friends through it all.

Catching up with Campbell and Mackenzie was fun and I love how the stories are coming together. Once Upon a Sure Thing was a sweet and light friends to lovers romcom and I'm excited to see what Lauren Blakely has in store for us next with the youngest Heartbreaker, Miles!

Sebastian York and Andi Arndt once again are amazing and I loved their performances as Miller and Ally. It was fun to have them voice such playful characters. They balance the sweet so well with the sexy! The cameo by Erin Mallon was such a treat too! I was completely surprised to hear her voice during the text exchanges between Macy and Ally. Such a wonderful gift for listeners!

After listening to the Imperfect love series by Kendall Ryan, I knew this one could only be better and hot damn, I loved it even more than I thought I would. I don't know why I enjoyed this story so much but it was just the perfect friend to lovers / rockstar romance story. I might have enjoyed this one even more than the first book in the series which I don't have a lot of memories of unfortunately. This one, I hope, might stay in my mind a little longer.

In it, you'll follow Miller and Ally as they figure out their feelings for each other while singing together. They've been falling in love over six years without acknowledging it or even allowing themselves to see it. But when they finally confronted it, it was so sexy & sweet. The epilogues were so cute and I'm excited to see what Lauren Blakely has in store for us in the last book!

I love a good "friends to lovers" romance and Lauren Blakely's Once Upon A Sure Thing delivered with a hot, sexy, realistic story about Miller and Ally. Two best buds who awaken something when they sing together. Music is passion. Am I right? Grab some wine and your headphones....

This is the second audiobook in the Heartbreakers series, featuring the Campbell brothers, all members of a popular boys band before it was disbanded. While you won't want to miss a single swoon-worthy moment or giggle these work as standalone.

Miller is a Campbell a former teen heartthrob and member of the Heartbreakers band. He misses singing in a group and decides to perform with a female partner. He listens to demos and imagine his surprise when the perfect voice a Miss Honey Lavender ends up being his best friend of six years, Ally.

Ally is a vocalist, she performs audiobooks, ads etc and submits song auditions. She has been playing safe, since she accepted guardianship of her niece. I loved Ally and immediately wanted her to have a happily ever after.

When they begin working on their songs in the studio the chemistry is OFF THE CHARTS, but will they risk their friendship for a chance at more. I adored their back and forth banter. Blakely is the queen of feel good romances and lovable characters. Miller is super sexy, a dirty talker and their move towards a romantic relationship was both hot and slow-burning.

We see character growth and a finding of oneself as Ally decides to be herself and Miller begins to think he can be a long-term relationship kind of guy. There were even a couple of tear-jerker minute, but I trusted Blakely. The ending and epilogue(s) left me smiling and anxious to begin Miles' story.

This story is narrated by Sebastian York and Andi Arndt. The two work really well together and I loved the duel narrative. We also get a surprise cameo from Erin Mallon. It was clever and perfect. This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer

Seriously in love with this book!

I loved this book from start to finish. Once Upon A Sure Thing is a very sweet friends to loversromance. And so freaking hot. I simply couldn’t put it down. The story flows effortlessly, it sucks you right in.

Ally is an audiobook narrator who is fairly successful, and a singer sensation in You Tube thanks to the videos where she sings with her brother. She has been her niece Chloe’s legal guardian since her sister died six years ago. Her immediate goal is to provide for Chloe, so she needs to find a way to earn more money.

Miller is Ally’s best friend and has been for the past six years. He is single and has enough money he doesn’t need to work. He is a good guy. And hot. His only problem? He is bored. He needs to find something to do he is passionate about, so he decides to follow hos brother Campbell’s advice and start a new band. But this time, he wants to sing with a woman.

After they start singing together they discover their chemistry is off the charts, and find themselves unable to resist the attraction they feel for each other. They begin a friends with benefits arrangement, that soon becomes too intense and could risk their friendship. They will need to decide what is it they want, and if they are willing to risk everything to get it.

Well, this very well may be one of Lauren Blakely‘s best romantic comedies of all time, and that is saying a lot because all her books are awesome. I loved this book so, so much. It’s sexy, so freaking hot, intense, funny, sweet, so... everything. It is perfect. I loved both Ally and Miller, their banter, their dirty talk, their personalities. I would totally recommend this book to anyone. It is so worth it.

OMG the audiobook is incredible. Andi Arndt and Sebastian York have an amazing chemistry together, it is just so damn good. It is sexy, intense and hot. I loved that Erin Mallon made an appearance as Macy when she was texting with Ally. I’m in love with this audiobook. Totally worth it.

ARC kindly received in exchange for an honest review.

Friends to lovers is one of my absolute all time favourite tropes in a romance novel. I was definitely intrigued with Ally and Miller from their parts in Once Upon a Real Good Time, and boy oh boy, was I right to want to know them.

This book was HOT. Sizzling. The build up, the banter, just everything about these two is amazing. The anticipation was killing me. And when they’re together? Holy moly wow, hot as hell!

I absolutely ADORE both Miller and Ally and I want to be friends with them in real life. The friendship they have is fantastic, and they both have a lot of love for their respective families, and understand the values of family and friendship.

I also totally understood the whole “do we?” or “don’t we?” concept of whether or not they should take their relationship to the next level. As a reader you are totally hoping this will happen, and that these guys will just out their feelings for each other, but the way they take it easy with each other is great as well.

I enjoyed all the secondary characters in this book, of course we get Cam and Mack and Sam from book 1, but we also get Miles and Ben, who I am now keen to read about in book 3.

Overall this was a really fantastic read that I highly recommend. A tonne of anticipation and build up, some hella sexy times and some just swoony/cute times as well. Loved it!

Miller and Ally, the main couple, make beautiful music together, in and out of the recording studio. Their full history these past six years gets revealed, as they both eventually get over the knucklehead notion falling for one another and letting that love come to life will likely result in the death of their friendship. That is the gist of this storyline, folks, and nothing else really majorly happens.

So if you want a sure bet on an uncomplicated, friends to lovers, smexy read without a lot of heavy baggage or interference, well, here you go. No one around them seemed surprised with the turn of events that played out here. In fact, everyone but these two knucklehead love birds saw it coming.

It was sweet how Miller has been there for Alley and the niece she was raising as her own. The back and forth banter felt comfortable, as they finally let go of their unfounded concerns and let love and fate take over.

I am once again a puddle of pure love from reading this book. This is book 2 in the Heartbreakers series, they are stand alones but go together as far as the characters intertwining. This is younger brother Miller Hart's chance at true love. He misses singing with his two brothers, Campbell and Miles. Miller is the extravert and needs interaction with people. He misses what they had and even though he has tried to form a band or two it just hasn't been the same since he and his brothers split the band. Campbell has a crazy idea for him. Form a new band with a female singer. How about your best friend Ally who also sings? Crazy right, well turns out no it's not crazy but electric.

Miller and Ally have been best friends for 6 years and while they both have realized over the years they are attracted to each other neither of them are willing to lose what they have over a short term "itch scratching" so they keep those secret feelings all bottled up until they sing together then it is obvious to everyone but them how well they go together not only vocally but the forever kind.

This is the best series. We not only get all the hot sexy alpha males that also have hearts and aren't afraid to show them but we get the relationships of families interwoven together. We get to see the love between best friends and how that friendship has grown into so much more. We get to see how an aunt becomes the mom and is willing to do anything to ensure the niece grows into a happy adult. We get to see the love and picking nature between brothers that are so close and need each other far more than they sometimes realize. And we get to experience these characters life with them. I love how this author always makes me feel whether it's happy, sad, sexy or all of the above meshed together. That's what this books does for me. I was there with Miller and Ally feeling what they felt for each other. I was there when Chole felt she was broken and discovered she wasn't. I was there when the music opened so many doors they didn't realize was closed and happy for them when they walked through them. I have a soft spot for friends to lovers books but this one is so much more. You can't help but fall in love with Miller, his personality and outlook on life would make the grumpiest grump smile and I love Ally and her career and her love for Chole.

I received an early copy to read and review and give my honest opinion. I loved this book and highly recommend it.

If you tell me Sebastian York is narrating anything, I'll listen to it. Instruction manuals, a math textbook, I don't care. His voice is so nice and he does a fantastic job, pair him with Andi Arndt and you know it's going to be great.
The story was cute, I liked that it was a friends to lovers romance and both Miller and Ally are good people who deserved to be happy. We got to see a bit of Campbell and Mackenzie too and I'm thinking the next book will be the last brother finding his match. The pacing was good and the story flew by. The romantic scenes were excellent and I wish there were more! lol

Miller & Ally will have you mumming a tune...a tune of sexy, dirty desires!
They are red hot, scorching if you will. The only problem is they don't even know just how effing good they are together...yet.
Till one day Honey Lavender walks in...then game over! Miller never stood a chance. One look at her and it hit him like bam. Right smack in the heart. His filthy, filthy, mouth did not even know how to process what was happening to him. This dirty talking fool goes from zero to turned on in less then one beat.
All the sudden Miller is tuned into this hot little number...and I ain't talking about the song ;)
Lauren has once again up'd her dirty talk game in this book...if you thought that Miller was gonna be the sweeter then you would be WRONG...turned on, but wrong!

This second book in the series follows the romance between Heartbreaker brother Miller and his best friend Ally. This was a nice, sweet read unfortunately it was also a carbon copy of book one only with the names changed. I found Miller's character immature and unwilling to grow up and let go of being apart of a band with his brothers in his younger days, he didn't really do anything just played like a teenager with no responsibilties while Ally worried about being a good parent to her niece and earning money. I am hoping the next book in this series will be better but this one was just not for me.

Another fun and sexy romp with the Heatbreakers! This time around with Miller, the middle of three brothers who achieved boy band fame in the 90s.

Miller is the fun brother. He’s a carefree, happy guy who always has a smile and a joke, and rarely lets anything get him down. It was his older brother, Campbell, who willingly stepped away from the spotlight due to family reasons, therefore ending the band. And while Miller whole-heartedly supported the decision, he misses the band. He misses playing with his brothers and he misses making the music that is such a big part of his life, so he’s on the lookout for a singing partner to get him out and performing again.

Ally is Miller’s best friend. They met six years ago and though there was an attraction there, they decided to become friends and they have been a vital part of each other’s lives ever since. Ally achieved some YouTube fame singing with her brother, but her ‘church’ voice doesn’t mesh well with Miller’s style of singing so as much as he respects her, he’s never considered her as an option to sing with, especially if it puts their relationship at risk.

Singing with your best friend seems like a surefire way to torpedo a relationship. I’ve been there, done that, and have a truckload of medals to prove it. If there’s one woman I want to keep in my life, it’s Ally.

But when Ally proves that she can bring the sultry, Miller is blown away and the two best friends team up, becoming an internet sensation when their chemistry-filled, flirtatious singing sets hearts (and libidos) aflame. And more than that, the need to act all hot with each other quickly and effortlessly spills over into real life and the spark that always simmered in secret between Miller and Ally flares to life, and holy freaking hotness!

What if we could be a mash-up—friends and lovers? There’s only one way to find out.

But it doesn’t mean anything, right? Best friends can’t be together for real – especially when there are other factors that have to be considered – most notably, Ally’s niece who she has custody of and who is understandably her top priority. And their friendship is incredibly important to them both, neither of them want to mess with that. But now that they have experienced the intensity that is them together, their feelings aren’t so easy to ignore.

Maybe I was never just friends with her. Maybe I’ve always been racing to this…racing toward her.

I loved this book! Friends to lovers is always a favourite trope of mine, and this one is done really well. It’s fun and funny, sweet, heartfelt and emotional, and Miller and Ally never lose that playfulness that is the centre of their relationship. They already care deeply about each other, it’s so obvious to everyone around them that something is going to happen between them, it’s just a matter of letting it all play out while they figure it all out, and it’s easy, natural, sexy, and so, so gorgeous.

This is such a great. I loved Miller and Ally, I loved the involvement of Miller’s brothers and the extended family, and Ally’s niece Chloe, is a gorgeous and important part of the story, and I loved the relationships there. The audiobook is once again narrated by Sebastian York and Andi Arndt, who are just perfect, and who bring this story to life with lots of humour and heart.

Loved this one! 4 stars.

As a huge fan of Lauren Blakely, romantic comedies, AND friends-to-lovers romance, I was eagerly anticipating the release of Once Upon a Sure Thing. After reading Once Upon a Real Good Time and meeting Campbell’s brother, Miller, and his best friend, Ally, my romance-reader radar detected a bit of a flirtation, so I was particularly excited to explore their relationship. I mean, who wouldn’t want to dive in to a romance between a sexy, fun-loving rock star and the woman who keeps him on his toes? Especially when the two friends mix business with pleasure, sending them into a tailspin of uncertain feelings, overwhelming lust, and undeniable sexual tension.

Being close friends for years, Miller and Ally have an effortless, affectionate rapport, and the two have many things in common, including their love of performing, albeit different genres. When Miller decides to audition female singers for a potential duet partner, Ally’s family-friendly, good girl persona isn’t an obvious choice. But between her newfound determination to be bold and daring, and her off-the-charts chemistry with Miller in the studio, Ally is the most natural choice. Singing together introduces a new aspect to their relationship, igniting a spark of attraction that refuses to be suppressed, and complicating their once-easygoing friendship.

Between the best friend, the rock star, and the single parent aspects of the storyline, Once Upon a Sure Thing is a fast-paced, continuously entertaining, whirlwind of a romance. As friends, Miller and Ally have playful, flirtatious interactions, perfectly at ease with each other, and secure in their tightknit bond. As duet partners, they have a sensual, suggestive back-and-forth, feeding off each other’s energy and reveling in their artistic connection. As lovers, they’re adventurous and uninhibited, pushing their sexual boundaries and setting the pages ablaze with their combustible chemistry. Just when you think Lauren Blakely can’t get any naughtier...she does.

With endearing characters, a lighthearted storyline, and scorching hot love scenes, Once Upon a Sure Thing is another must-read rom-com from Lauren Blakely. It’s just as heart-meltingly romantic, just as sinfully sexy, and just as achingly sweet as the first book in the Heartbreakers Series. After finishing the book, I’m even more excited for who and what’s coming next.
