Merged review:

Facts: My One Week Husband is a standalone contemporary romance by Lauren Blakely. Told from both points of view, with a HEA. Genres: Billionaire Romance Tropes: Friends to Lovers | Office Romance | Travel Romance | Fake Marriage

Lauren Blakely writes an entrancing and vibrant story. The playful and witty banter bursts off the page from the start. The romance is touching and seductive and the trip through France was utterly pleasurable.

Scarlet Slade and Daniel Stewart have been friends and business partners for the past three years. They’ve also been attracted to each other since they met. They have never openly admitted it nor acted on it, not just because of the nature of their relationship but because neither is interested in a relationship.

However, when a chance to invest on a chain of boutique hotels presents itself, they go undercover as newlyweds in order to personally inspect the properties while giving themselves permission to explore their attraction during that week and safely going back to their friendship afterwards.

As the two relish their possible business venture while visiting beautiful sights, they get to know each other better, reveal secrets and become intimate. Will they be brave enough to risk their hearts?

We met Daniel in One Exquisite Touch. He’s suffered great loss and has built defenses to prevent him from being hurt again, while affecting his self-worth in regard to pursuing a relationship with his enchanting business partner. Scarlet is not only driven and successful, she’s patient and understanding. She’s perfect for Daniel even though she’s also experienced heartache.

Lauren Blakely is a master of witty banter and explosive chemistry and My One Week Husband is full of wonderful moments set in a beautiful backdrop of the breathtaking Paris, and a lovely tour through the south of France. It sizzles with the potent chemistry and romantic tension between Daniel and Scarlet from start to finish.

5 Honesty-Is-So-Sexy Stars⭐
A Sassy Joyful & Emotional Pretend-Marriage Workplace Romance. I adored Travelling in France where this book is placed! An American Heroine, A Sexy Brit Hero, Friends-with-Benefits & PDA makes a Sweet Combination!
This was such a Fun read, I loved Scarlett & Daniel! It was Lovely to see Cole (Their 3rd Business partner + Friend) & Nadia (Her Friend), I've added their books: Virgin rule book & One Exquisite Touch to my TBR, so excited❤. DEVOURED this within 6hrs.

Scarlett (Fierce + Sweet) & Daniel (Charming + Deep) had very different Lives before it converged 3 yrs ago, Soon after, she'd become A partner in Dan & Cole's Hotel chain. Now they're expanding in Europe. S+D both are Hardworking & experienced Pain through others in past; Hers forced a new path, His Changed His whole life. They've been attracted to eachother since they met, but hadn't crossed the lines of their Friendship. At the start of story, we get to see their dynamics & reactions To their latest Acquired Hotel, which needs hella lot repair.

But with a Good Tip, A New local Hotel Chain comes to their view, which may be worth to buy (as it's on Sale). Dan & Scarlett pretend to be married as they check the hotels in this Chain, to better Blend in with Everyone...& Now The Lines Start blurring. Things were getting heated (I love Lauren's Writing so much!) As it is, but Pretending to be married led to imagination, to kisses & Orgasms (1st on train ;-), Soon to Sexy times! Cue Start of a Fling, for week, Which'll end When they've visited all hotels & they'll be back to just Friends.

"I am flammable around Daniel Stewart. One touch and I melt. One kiss and I flame. That’s how I feel around him. Like I’m truly combustible."

But as They Travel, Along with Various Sex positions & Fantasies, Emotions are Explored too! Talk happens, Feelings exposed. I loved how honest they were with Eachother! 1st she opens up about her Prick of an Ex/late Husband. Dan opens up slowly but surely about Him being a musical Prodigy (Wow!) & The incident that Hurted & changed Everything. We come to understand their Decisions Better & It's amazing how protective they're of eachother❤. It hurted me of what they've endured, especially Dan *Tears*. They've been falling in love for years, now they've fell.

She'd made Paris her home. He lives in London But has no real home.
Soon, their Fling time comes to an end, Reality knocks. They're sure buying the Hotel chain, but what about their Relationship? Let me just say, His Fears comes in b/w, But atleast unlike other heroes of books, Dan was totally honest about his reasons to Scarlett *Yay!*. It's astounding that Love Confessions & Break-up came together 😅. Like, omg, I'm happy...but so sad.

Gladly, They're not away for even 24hrs *Yay!!!!*. Their Friends (His by Cole & Her by Nadia) Hammer a few important facts home! Which lead to Some Lovely Realisations & S+D trying for Love! Their Subsequent talk was so Swoony! (Violin Sang & Rival's Words!) Loved it. Cue HEA❤. Btw, I loved her family!
The Epilogues were Gorgeous😍. #DealOne #MeetingTheParents #HaveFunInConcert #Proposal
P.s. I love how every book has interconnected characters in Lauren's bookish world! So excited for more by her!

There is no chemistry whatsoever between the characters, or maybe it's just me. And I'm trying so hard not to DNF books in 2021 but this book almost made me do it.

Pace of the story : Moderate

Angst Rating : 6/10

Plot Summary :
Daniel and Scarlett are Business partners and have an amazing relationship. That is until a crazy idea makes them pretend to be husband and wife.
Scarlett has always wanted the handsome britt by her side to be hers. At the risk of destroying their relationship , she always kept her distance but with this facade they are polling off , it becomes tougher and tougher.

Daniel has wanted Scarlett since the moment he saw her and now he can finally have her all to himself. She is everything he ever wanted and there is nothing he won’t do for her. Anything , except disclosing all his secrets to her. That is one thing he can't do because she can't know what he was before he became a world famous business tycoon.

Overall Opinion :
This book started off so very good! I am not a person who is very very enthusiastic about Contemporary romances but this one kept me hooked right from the start. It was definitely the charm that the characters possessed which kept me hooked. I wanted to know what happened next and couldn’t wait to uncover more of their secrets!

I don't know if it was at 60% or 70% but the chemistry between the main leads sort of fizzled out. I found myself skimming the pages and eager to reach the end so that I could finally see those said secrets and the book became boring to me. It was a one time read for me. If you are a diehard fan of contemporary romance and love britts who are sexy and charming as hell then there is no chance you can miss this book!

You know it's bad when you turn the page to the epilogue and you say, out loud, "Thank GOD."

It was just so dumb. Everything was so fucking dramatic.

Oh, music was my first love and I lost that so I can never love again!

I eyerolled ALLLLLL the way through this book.

Btw, the reason he can't play music anymore? He punched a wall so hard he got nerve damage.

HOW HARD DO YOU HAVE TO PUNCH A WALL TO GET NERVE DAMAGE????

And you know what? He's such a fucking idiot that the reason he punched a wall ends up being because he seemed to not understand that "mistrial" does not mean "not guilty".

It was just so stupid. The more we learned about Daniel's past (his name is Daniel by the way) the more ridiculous it got. By the time he said his parents were murdered *GASP* I literally laughed out loud. I just kept yelling in my head, "This is so DUUUUUMMB!"

I don't know why I kept reading. It was a waste of time but I didn't feel like finding something else to read!

The only thing good about it was the sex scenes. They were hot. But I'm not here JUST for the porn here guys. I come for the articles too!

I absolutely devoured My One Week Husband! It was fun, and sexy, and I really appreciated and found it intriguing that the characters had some darkness to their pasts. It gave them a lot of development to their individual arcs.

Daniel and Scarlett's friendship and working relationship over the years created this closeness alone with fun flirtations that lent itself to a history of denied attraction. I love stories where the feelings and attraction are developed over time instead of instantly. It's more believable and relatable that way.

Their chemistry and attraction are off the charts and Blakely doesn't hold back on the sexy times. It had moments that were positively wild and dirty, even no holds-barred.

I also liked the honesty and openness between Daniel and Scarlett. The way they let each other in and trusted each other with their deepest darkest secrets. That kind of trust is truly rare, even in romance.

Some of Blakely’s best work!

Loved this friends to lovers/fake relationship romance. Two of my favorite tropes in one book and I was all for it. Scarlett and Daniel started out as friends and business partners which turned into a fake marriage to be able to get the deal of their careers. All they have to do is stay married for 7 days. Will what started out as fake turn into something real? Their story was an absolute delight to read. Ms. Blakely has done it again. I highly recommend picking up this read. You won’t be disappointed.

My One Week Husband by Lauren Blakely
Narrated by Vanessa Edwin & Shane East plus Joe Arden, James Joseph, Victoria Mei, Siiri Scott, and Erin Mallon
Stands Alone but is related to others. Emotional RomCom.
How Lauren Blakely continues to produce incredible, riveting stories at the speed she does is beyond me. She writes them faster than I can listen. My One Week Husband even stands out further in that it’s a multicast presentation, it takes place throughout France, and combines a bunch of tropes, including workplace, fake marriage, friends-to-lovers, travel, and a hot British hero.

We met Daniel as a sexy third in an m-f-m scene in One Exquisite Touch, and I really wanted more of the sexy British hotelier, but it is not necessary to read before My One Week Husband. I love the way Lauren always writes powerful women executives, and I really liked Scarlett.

Daniel and Scarlett are business partners who run a hotel chain together. Both are damaged, and they have both been fighting the attraction they feel towards each other. When a business opportunity arose to expand their hotel chain, Daniel and Scarlett decided to pose as newlyweds to scope out some hotels they were interested in adding to their roster.

The role-playing and traveling were so much fun! I love a guy that’s not too macho to pretend, and soon real-life and pretend life start getting a little mixed up.
"I am flammable around Daniel Stewart. One touch and I melt. One kiss and I flame. That’s how I feel around him. Like I’m truly combustible."

My One Week husband was a little deeper and more serious than some of Lauren’s other books. It was also a little hotter, like it straddled the line between her Exquisite series and her romcoms with a little of Wanderlust  thrown in. Daniel was SO HOT, yet had such a heartbreaking background. Scarlett was smart, suffered her own share of heartache, and loved numbers and Paris. They were perfect for each other.

Daniel’s dirty talk was made extra hot because Shane East vocalizes it!
“You need to be fucked by a man who wants you. By a man who is consumed by you and only you.”

Likes:

•I love a full-cast production.
•I really liked each of their backstories, both heartbreaking in their own ways.
•The sexy banter.
•I loved the fun stories they made up as they traveled, and how they brought that pretend into the bedroom with them.
•I enjoyed the people and couples they met along the way.
•The adventure of traveling all around.

Dislikes:

•Unpopular opinion: I think that maybe there was a little too much sex, and it took away from the depth of the story a bit. But I also didn’t realize until writing this review that it was part of the Extravagant Series, which is definitely Lauren’s more erotic series. I thought it was a crossover character.

The Narration:
This is the type of full cast that I love. It never felt forced, or like scenes were added just to have a full cast conversation. Shane East and Vanessa Edwin did a fantastic job with the leads, and I can’t imagine a better narration.

The Down & Dirty:
Lauren Blakely never fails me. I love every audiobook she releases, but there was something a little more special about My One Week Husband. Perhaps it was their tragic pasts, perhaps it was the travel, perhaps it was the role-playing, or perhaps it was the full cast narration, but I think it was all of it together. My One Week Husband was a little deeper and a little hotter than many of Lauren’s books, and I loved every word.

Rating: 4.5 Stars, 5 Heat, 5+ Narration

5 SMOOCHES!

Going into My One Week Husband, I was ready for a magical, seductive trip to France through Lauren Blakely’s eyes. I’ve never actually been there, but this was my third fictional trip—all of them thanks to Blakely—and she has definitely stoked an interest. Through her notoriously vibrant descriptions, I easily visualized the scenery, creating the perfect backdrop to this most decadent story in my mind. Blakely proceeded to take me along on this couple’s heart-racing romp through France with front row seats to a painful, poignant and passionate romance three years in the making.

If you’ve read Lauren Blakely’s work, chances are you’ve met this hero as he makes quite an impression in One Exquisite Touch, and the heroine pops up in that story, too. Business partners for the last year and colleagues who’ve worked together for three years, Daniel and Scarlett have become rather adept at fighting off the attraction they feel toward each other. Oh they may dance and flirt right up to that line, but they’ve never actually crossed it. A business opportunity brings them together, traveling through France, posing as newlyweds to scope out their target. This role playing, complete with costumes and disguises, added an almost clandestine feel to the story that was exciting, fresh and fun. But playing these parts gave them permission to act on their fantasies. The thing about fantasies, though, is that they often mirror true desire, and when Daniel and Scarlett brought to life what had previously lived in only their imaginations, suddenly fantasy morphed into a very authentic reality.

Daniel had a heart-wrenching history, and as Blakely peeled back his layers, I positively ached for this man. Everything about his life, up to this point, was tragic and harrowing and belied the happy-go-lucky, hedonistic pleasure-seeking businessman he projected. Scarlett had her own heart-tugging past, and in an effort to move beyond it, she clung to what was tangible and real in her life—deals and numbers and her beloved spreadsheets. Those were real, and they did not lie. The romance of this trip, the passion between them, the perceived protection of the roles they were playing did nothing to mask the simple truth that they were falling in love, though, and I was here for every second of it.

Drawn in from the start, Daniel and Scarlett’s attraction captured my attention, but it was the blending of their personal back stories and their joint present story that held me raptly engrossed. This story was as much about the healing of past heartaches as it was about the promise of new love. At times raw and emotional, Lauren managed to tell this heartbreaking yet hopeful and passionate love story without relying on an angst-filled or drama heavy tale. My One Week Husband was such a lushly told love story, and I just couldn’t put it down. A new favorite of mine from Blakely and a top favorite for the year! Five smooches from me for My One Week Husband by Lauren Blakely!

I was a little torn on how to rate this book. It's performed by some favourites, and the premise had my attention. Business partners that pretend to be married for a week? Sign me up! But the story just didn't hit all my favourite spots. Maybe I wasn't in the right headspace for it or maybe because I expected something different?

I thought this book was going to be more like Lauren's romcoms than her After Dark series based on the cover and branding, but it felt much more like an After Dark book. The characters had been introduced in the series which adds to the feel, I think. And the focus was very much on the sexual journey of this couple than their relationship. Now, I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but I just didn't expect it and felt the book left me wanting. Wanting more of them building their relationship—it felt like they went from business partners/ friends to f**k buddies to being in love with very little buildup in between. Wanting more humour—like I say, I thought this was going to be more on the romcom side of things and it ended up dealing with some pretty serious issues.

That being said, it was an enjoyable listen with interesting characters. A fun premise. And I loved that they were traveling around and getting to visit all these places with them.

If high heat, insta-love is your thing, you should most definitely pick this book up as I think you will love it.

It's performed by Vanessa Edwin and Shane East (with a few other voices thrown in here and there - it's a multicast) and I thought they did an amazing job with it. Vanessa is all the things. I love her voice and was so excited that she was the heroine in this story. She brought so much to Scarlett and her experiences. Shane is obviously the go-to British male voice, and for good reason, he was wonderful as Daniel and really brought a lot of emotion to the things the character had experienced in his past.

At the end of the audiobook was a novella prequel to Lauren's next book. That was performed by Erin Mallon and Teddy Hamilton. I enjoyed listening to it, a football team owner and a baseball player - sounds like fun, right? I look forward to finding out how their story unfolds.

I just finished My One Week Husband and I have the biggest smile on my face!!

Sometimes you just connect with a book on a whole other level. It’s a book that seeps into your heart. Your soul. Your being. It is a book you will never forget. One you scream about from the rooftops. One you want to read over and over again. One that consumes you.

I enjoy all of Lauren’s books but Wanderlust and A Guy Walks Into My Bar are those books of hers for me. They have stayed with me since I read them and made their way into my heart.

Now I am adding My One Week Husband to those. She has outdone herself with this one.

This book is
Sensual, swoon worthy, and sinful
Romantic
Decadent, delicious, and dirty
Entertaining
Hot as hell
Emotional and pulls at your heartstrings
Beautifully written
PERFECTION

Set in my favorite place in the world, France, we take a trip with Daniel and Scarlett as they travel for business throughout the country pretending to be husband and wife for a week. I so enjoyed visiting the places I’ve been in real life and seeing them through Lauren’s beautiful, vivid, and descriptive writing. She made me feel like I was there again experiencing the beauty that is France.

Daniel and Scarlett are perfect together. They are two people with pasts, with damaged hearts. Will they open up to each other and let the past go, accepting love into their hearts? Or will their relationship end when their week is over?

Daniel is British. Need I say more? Not really but I will. God I love him. And not just because he’s British and uses all the British terms and words I love. He’s sweet and sensitive. He’s hot and sexy. Scarlett is not only beautiful, she’s smart and business savvy. She’s a woman who knows what she wants. Together they are on fire. But more than the sexual attraction, they are like two halves of a whole. But will they realize that?

My One Week Husband is a superbly written must read. If you want to smile and swoon, laugh and sigh, and have your heart all emotional you don’t want to miss this.

I freaking LOVED it!!!

This was my very first Lauren Blakely book and now I know that I slowly but surely want to read all her other books as well. It was THAT good!!

First of all, I loved how the story started and the story between the two main characters developed. I loved that they already knew each other from the very start, that they already got along, were joking around, flirted and were not only acquainted, but actually KNEW each other inside out. They knew how the other ticked, what they liked and didn’t like, how they behaved in certain situations. They had been business partners since 3 years and just got the other person.
Also, I really liked the playful behaviour they adopted towards each other. They pretended to be husband and wife in front of others, made fun of the situation and they just enjoyed each other's company. While reading this book I simply felt the chemistry between the two and this made the book special for me.

And not only were Scarlett and David great together. They were also great as individuals. I liked Scarlett from the first moment, because she’s logical and loves all her different plans. This little tick of her made her very sympathetic.

Same goes for David. He is a flirt yes, but he is also professional when it comes to business, he is playful and easy going, but he is also compassionate. Getting to know more about his past was very interesting and I inhaled his chapters, because he felt super deep as a character. He is also not the stereotypical male lead in a way, though I cannot really put my finger on the why. I think it has something to do with the music and his regrets.

And the actual love story in this wonderful standalone? The tension and the attraction between the two was ever present. It is a slow burn romance in which the characters slowly but surely open their eyes for each other. I felt every single spark and it was just absolutely wonderful diving into this story.

I didn’t want it to end and I definitely loved every second of it. It sucked me in and was over way too quickly!

My One Week Husband is Lauren Blakely’s newest standalone. You don’t have to read One Exquisite Touch is fall in love with Daniel, it is just where you are first introduced to him. I would read it though since it’s red-hot! And if you did, then you met Scarlett too, as their better third in business.

Daniel and Scarlett are all about business. Her loves are Paris and numbers. His are women and music. They have been working together for three years in the hotel business. Partners for one. In that time they have become good friends. Even flirty ones but they have never crossed that line to more. Ever. That doesn’t mean there isn’t an attraction but they will not mix business with pleasure with friendship. Will that all change when they decide to travel together as husband and wife for one week, going from city to city, inn to inn? They have been alone together plenty of times but this is different. This is them getting closer, emotionally and physically. Is one week enough to indulge in each other?

I ♥️ Daniel and Scarlett. She is not only a badass businesswoman but she is a woman who knows what she wants. Daniel is more than I ever thought he would be. I knew he was delicious but he has more sides to him that make me swoon and want to hug him. Together, their banter is fun and sexy. Their connection is red-hot and beautiful. Their friendship is fun and flirty. I just loved their story so much. It’s full of adventure, beauty, truth, and desires.

Quotes:

“Quiet me with your lips,” I tell him, uttering a seductive command.

“You’re full of surprises, Scarlett. And I love them all. They’re are the cat’s whiskers,” I say.

“You need to be f*cked by a man who wants you. By a man who is consumed by you and only you,” I tell her...

Oh my goodness! This was so good! Lauren Blakely definitely hit it out of the park with this one. It's not your typical fake dating trope. Nope! It's so much more. I loved every single thing about Daniel and Scarlett's story.

While searching for a new boutique hotel chain, these two decided to pretend to be newlyweds. And let me tell you, this is where the real fun begins. Daniel and Scarlett had intense chemistry and attraction for each other since the first day they met. But they never acted on it for fear that it would ruin their business partnership. So when they are pretending to be husband and wife on a honeymoon, there is no way they wouldn't cross the line.

𝐸𝑣𝑒𝑛 𝑖𝑓 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑓𝑙𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑖𝑠 𝑒𝑛𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑔, 𝑤𝑒 𝑐𝑎𝑛 𝑒𝑛𝑗𝑜𝑦 𝑒𝑎𝑐ℎ 𝑚𝑜𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡. 𝐼 𝑐𝑎𝑛 𝑔𝑖𝑣𝑒 ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑏𝑒𝑠𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝑚𝑒 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑠𝑡𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝑠𝑎𝑣𝑒 ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑓𝑟𝑜𝑚 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑤𝑜𝑟𝑠𝑡 𝑜𝑓 𝑚𝑒—𝑚𝑦 𝑜𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑠𝑖𝑑𝑒. I loved their playful and flirty banter. They made me grin like an idiot😂 I liked how real and raw they are with each other. You can really see the shift and progression of their relationship from just business partners to something deeper. They were able to help each other get over their terrible pasts. They were perfect for each other. I also loved how Lauren describe the places they were visiting in France. I was living vicariously through them!

Ahhh I do love a good friends to lovers. Though they are business partner’s yes they are friends too. I enjoyed the banter and the friendship vibes throughout the book not just with the main characters but with the secondary ones as well.
It makes you feel like you could be a part of their group.
The women are fantastic and I love how they encourage each other, it’s sweet and fun.
The full cast really gives each of them their own voices and that is awesome.
Now on to Daniel and Scarlett they have the spark that makes for a good story. I loved the costumes and the heat these two generate. The way he finally opens up and how easy it is for him to talk to Scarlett well it made me love her that much more. She was so patient and he was so good about her past hurts it was a great story to get lost in.
LOVED the narration every single one of the narrators were fantastic.
The bonus snippet at the end was great I want more.

I loved the escape this book brought me! Traveling to France was so fun and it was a sexy read, too. I love fake marriage romances and this one is added to my favorites. It had it all. It had some feels but it also had the steam you expect from Lauren Blakely. It was well rounded and enjoyable. I definitely recommend! ~Andrea

"I have read numerous books by Lauren Blakely and honestly this book is the sexiest one yet.
Daniel and Scarlett’s story is a great friends to lovers romance - or should I say business partners to lovers as both apply in this instance.
As I said this book is super sexy, but honestly there is so much more going on than just that part. Both have a tragic past and when both are revealed it was honestly shocking to read - especially with Daniel. Nadia was a great friend to Scarlett and the teaser of her book has me excited to get my hands on it.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book." ~Sharon

i was so hooked from the beginning by the chemistry between scarlett and daniel. i've been waiting for their story ever since finishing cole and sage's in one exquisite touch. the magical setting of paris just perfectly created a romantic getaway for the two as they pretend to be a married couple. daniel's charming and gentlemanly but has a sad past while scarlett's bold and sweet. they complimented each other so well. other than the last conflict, scarlett and daniel communicated their feelings and emotions clearly which is something that i really appreciated.

4.25 stars--MY ONE WEEK HUSBAND by Lauren Blakely is a contemporary, adult, erotic romance story line set in the author’s THE EXQUISITE world. This is business partners and hoteliers, thirty three year old Scarlett Slade, and Daniel Stewart’s story line. MY ONE WEEK HUSBAND can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Scarlett and Daniel were first introduced in ONE EXQUISITE TOUCH as business partners of hotelier Cole Donovan.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Daniel and Scarlett) MY ONE WEEK HUSBAND follows British born Daniel Stewart, and his business partner Scarlett Slade on a business tour through France, and the potential acquisition of a new hotel to add to their growing billion dollar venture. In an effort to get up close and personal with prospective hotels, Daniel and Scarlett pose as husband and wife, a partnership that lead to a happily ever after but Daniel’s past has hardened his heart to love and forever, and Scarlett struggles with the failure of her first, a marriage she believed would last a life time. What ensues is the building romance and relationship, predicated upon a lie, between Scarlett and Daniel, and the potential fall-out as Daniel refuses to acknowledge the possibility of a future with our story line heroine.

Scarlett Slade never expected to fall for Daniel Stewart but our heroine is quickly discovering that there is more to Daniel than meets the eye. Posing as husband and wife, Scarlett and Daniel take their fake relationship to the next level, a relationship that becomes all too real for our story line hero. Daniel Stewart has lusted after his partner for as long as he can remember but Daniel refuses to open his heart to romance and love. Falling for Scarlett was easy, breaking her heart was about to destroy him from within.

The relationship between Scarlett and Daniel is a business partners to lovers, fake marriage between two people who struggle to move on from the past. Daniel never expected to enter into the hotel business, and Scarlett had to move out from under the heaviness of the destruction of her marriage. Journeying through France, Scarlett and Daniel would reveal their backstories, backstories that are heart breaking, emotional and sometimes dark. The $ex scenes are intimate, intense and steamy without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters included business partner Cole Donovan, Scarlett’s parents, as well as several Parisians, and another couple honeymooning in Paris, France.

MY ONE WEEK HUSBAND is a story of loss and acceptance; romance and love. The premise is inviting and imaginative; the romance is spirited and edgy; the characters are broken, sassy, and animated.

Ever since first being introduced to Daniel in One Exquisite Touch I’ve been dying to learn more about him and get his full story and LB did not disappoint. You do not need to have read One Exquisite Touch as My One Week Husband can be read as standalone.

Scarlett and Daniel are Hotelier’s. They are business partners and friends and respect each other immensely.

I adored Scarlett. She is a fierce business woman. She likes order and numbers and is intelligent and independent. She loves Paris and the magic of the city. She likes beauty and bright colours. She is protective of her heart after the death of her husband whom was keeping secrets from her but she is intrigued by Daniel and agrees to pose as his wife for a week while looking at their acquisition.

Daniel was such a mystery in the beginning. I knew from the glimpses we got in One Exquisite Touch that he had a tragic past. He loves the symphony, women and business. He is good at what he does in the boardroom and in the bedroom. He has a wicked dirty side and has been lusting after Scarlett for not just her body but her mind as well. Daniel is direct and does not mince words. He is insanely attractive and impossible to resist. I adored his softer side that Scarlett brought out in him.

This couple could not have been more perfect for another. They compliment each other in the best of ways, they challenge each other and have incredibly chemistry. The way they banter and the dialogue between them is sexy and humorous but also serious when they needed to be.

This story is one of LB’s best. It is full of adventure, heart and passion and highly recommend it.

I adore this book so much. I'm a big fan of friends who have a fake relationship that turns real trope and this is such an amazing one. Lauren Blakely is such a talented author! Daniel and Scarlett are such wonderful lovable characters. They are business partners who pretend to be a honeymooning couple for a week to check out different boutique hotels and what comes out of that is so much more than what either of them expected. Their story is so flirty, sexy, fun, sweet, passionate and emotional, and I loved every single minute of it. The audiobook is an amazing treat with an extended cast for some scenes in the book! But as for the hero and heroine, Shane East is delicious as Daniel and Vanessa Edwin is a fantastic Scarlett. They definitely make you feel what they are feeling and add so much to the written word. They make magic together.
Joe Arden is Cole, their third business partner, and Erin Mallon is Nadia, Scarlett's BF, and they are both fantastic in their roles as always. The others were new to me but very good in their roles as well.
The epilogues are amazing! What we find out in the first epilogue is just delightful. And the final epilogue just made my heart sing with happiness.
The bonus prequel novella starring Erin Mallon as Nadia and Teddy Hamilton as Crosby is awesome and I’m looking forward to The Virgin Rulebook coming in April!
So much entertainment in one audiobook! What a treat!!

If you follow LB on socials, you will know that she has a vibrant and buoyant personality so it’s no surprise that that rubs off on her characters. Scarlett and Daniel are no exception, they both give you a sense of living life to the fullest - carpe diem. Both were raised in a happy loving home, but it changes for one in a dramatic way as a teen which causes them to not trust themselves or love again. The other has been burnt in a previous relationship and even though that sucked big time, they still want to try once more. An opportunity arises when a business trip is needed to source out another property to purchase for their growing hotel empire and Daniel and Scarlett have a little fun role playing as husband and wife for a week, hence the title. But it could be too much for one, bringing back sad memories and deep hurt.

This was a quick and fun read, discovering parts of France along with Daniel and Scarlett and watching their feelings come to light. They both had respect for the other and the chemistry was on fire! It was inevitable that they wouldn’t be able to keep their hands to themselves and with their other business partner Cole playing Cupid, it was la destinée! I do love me an epilogue, and we get two that made my heart sing and heal from this love story. I think this book would be amazing in audio, with the different languages and dirty talk, so if you get the opportunity, LB’s are the best with multi casts.

Updated review:

Where to begin? My One Week Husband by Lauren Blakely is wonderfully written, as always. My heart broke for both Daniel and Scarlet. They both have endured a lot in their pasts. Will they finally allow themselves a forever future together filled with unconditional love? Do the stars guide Daniel and Scarlet or is there a cupid at play? Hmmm…..you’re going to have to either read it or listen to this absolutely amazing story.
Speaking of listening, Shane East, Vanessa Edwin, and a full cast of narrators bring Daniel and Scarlet to life. Shane has that fabulous British accent. Can you say...swoon? Every narrator does an absolutely fabulous job. I like dual POV’s but a dual narration with the whole cast takes the story to another level. It makes creating visuals in your mind that much easier. So much to say about the story, that I’m having a hard time not spoiling it. I am fairly new to audiobooks but the narrators that Lauren uses just cannot be compared to others. Out of this world. These people are so talented. They do way more than just read the story, they bring it to life. Oh, I forgot to mention, Lauren can really write between-the-sheets action but, Shane and Vanessa? Whew, let’s just say that you better have a fan!! (I think ch. 17 is the hottest I have ever read or heard from Lauren) I received an ALC and ARC in exchange for an honest review. *****

Scarlett and Daniel are business partners looking to buy a hotel chain. They go to inspect all of the different hotels across Europe, but do so using a different identify. They pretend to be on their honeymoon and use different names, so that people won’t recognize them as hotel owners. This turns into Scarlett buying wigs and “costumes” to play the part, and it ends up being a lot of role-play basically.

It was very steamy! They told each other their fantasies through pretending they had already acted on them. Then they did act on them later when they were alone. It was definitely steamy, but I wanted to feel a little more of the chemistry and attraction between them. This came out a little more towards the end as they got personal with each other. They both had things from their past that they don’t share often, but they opened up to each other. I would have maybe liked to see this happen a little earlier in the story so we could see their vulnerability with each other sooner.

I really enjoyed each of their friends. They were both so supportive. They warned them to be careful, but then when it was clear they had fallen for each other they did what they could to help. They both knew their friend’s history, and knew it was a big deal that they had opened up to each other.

5 star review of My One Week Husband by Lauren Blakely
When I read the blurb for this I just knew that this was going to be one heck of a read. From start to finish I was completely captivated by the story that Lauren Blakely wove.
This may well be one of my favourite books from Ms. Blakely and that is saying something. What could possibly go wrong? A fake marriage, a holiday in Europe and a couple who are not only friends, but business partners, who flirt outrageously and who are so attracted to one another that they could burst.
When they embark on their journey they decide to throw caution to the wind and indulge in their fantasies and then their relationship will go back to what it was before……………yeah right!!!!
The chemistry and attraction between Daniel and Scarlett is combustible and so steamy that I was in need of a fan. However what will happen when they share their deepest secrets with one another? Will it change or destroy everything they have both worked so hard for?
I loved the friendship and honesty in their relationship; their connection to one another is soul deep and it built a solid foundation for their love story.
This is a little gem and one I have no hesitation in recommending.

This book was beautiful! It starts off light, Daniel and Scarlett being co-workers who are attracted to each other and decide that a work trip is a perfect way to give in to those feelings for a week and ‘get it out of their system’. But they both have darkness and sadness in their past, they’ve been hurt and closed off, struggling to open up again. I loved how much they talked to each other about what they expected from the week, no empty promises, and no presumptions on either side. They kept communicating about it all. They slowly fall deeper and open up to each other about their pasts, and it becomes clear how this has influenced them. When they return to Paris, I wanted to smack Daniel for his choice, even though I could totally understand. Luckily, his best friend Cole was there to do just that and help him understand why taking risks with your heart is what you have to do sometimes. It was good to give Daniel and Scarlett both a moment to process what has been happening and think about how they want to go forward, so that they’re both sure about the next step. This book is ultimately about hope, about finding happiness, about letting go of the past and focusing on the future. It was just so good!

After reading One Exquisite Touch, I couldn’t wait to read more about Daniel, in One Week Husband. Daniel and Scarlet are business partners who have good chemistry, fun banter and you can cut the sexual tension with a knife. This book wasn’t all just fun and games as we learn Daniel’s backstory and it made me want to reach in and give him a big hug. That part in the book was truly heartbreaking and I was in shock. I had to listen to that part twice to make sure I heard correctly. It was also nice to catch up with Cole as well from One Exquisite Touch. Even though they are fictional characters I get attached and like to see that they are doing well.

Audiobook Review:
So I ended up listening to the audiobook since it is a full cast audiobook and I LOVE those the best. The narrators did such a great job as always bringing the characters to life in this story. Shane East can narrator a washer machine manual and make it sounds sophisticated and dirty all at the same time and I love it! This was my first time listening to Vanessa Edwin and I will definitely be adding her to my list of narrators to watch out for as well. I have very picky ears and these two narrators work so well together and everything just flowed. It was music to my ears

I just adored this story and devoured it in one setting! Lauren Blakely has written such a sweet, seductive friends-to-lovers story. This whole story is set in Paris, and various parts of France. The setting itself, puts you in this tempting fantasy that you never want to leave.

We met Daniel in One Exquisite Touch, and knew there was little bit of mystery and heartache to this sexy man's past. In My One Week Husband, we are finally given the his story, and his HEA. Scarlett is his business partner and has been a part of his life for the last three years. When given the opportunity to invest in some new hotels, these two pretend to be married, and well the sparks fly from there.

Overall, this story was just magical, sexy, and gives your heart all kinds of happy feels. Lauren gives us deep, emotional characters in this story, with a simply perfect plot to help these characters fall in love and to share their true selves. You will find yourself cheering for Daniel and Scarlett to let go of the past and take a chance on each other.

Daniel and Scarlett have been business partners for a few years and even though they have flirtatious banter neither thinks it’s a good idea to go there until they are on a business trip and the lines get blurred playing a fake couple. Cute banter

Get your passports ready because Lauren Blakely is taking us to France! My One Week Husband is everything you want in a romance novel. It's filled with flirty banter, sexual chemistry, and a beautifully written storyline that will take you from Paris to Monet's Garden, to small towns such as Nice, Marseille, and Lyon.

Although this is a total standalone, we first met Daniel Stewart in One Exquisite Touch, where he and Cole are not shy pleasing the ladies. Cole finds love with Sage, who owns a lavish hotel, and the two are deliriously happy. Cole wants the same for his college friend now business partner, and works his shenanigans to make it happen.

Three years ago Daniel and Cole met and joined forces with Scarlett Slade, a successful financial advisor with experience in real estate and hospitality. She not only possesses beauty, but brains, class, and a passion for Paris. The three now invest and operate exclusive hotels and are looking to expand their portfolio.

What I love so much about this book is the vivid way the author describes every detail. From the majestic places they visit, to the emotional torment he feels when thinking about music, to the way they feel when they look at or think about one another. His heart just doesn't flutter, Blakely writes, "it feels as though a thousand hummingbirds flap their wings in my chest."

Sadly, I have never been to France, but I certainly intend on visiting the places described in this book after exploring them through the author's eyes. I loved Wanderlust, also set in France, but My One Week Husband is on an entirely different level and consumed my heart and soul. It is without a doubt, the best book Blakely has ever written.

The premise of the book takes Daniel, a violin prodigy and entrepeuner, and Scarlet on a one-week undercover mission to explore several boutique hotels for sale throughout France. Not wanting the employees to know their intent, they pose as husband and wife while they investigate this financial opportunity. It is through this journey that they act on their insane chemistry and admit they've been attracted to each other from the start. And my oh my how they role play, especially when Scarlett lets Daniel in on a few of her secret steamy fantasies!

I absolutely loved all of their flirty banter and innuendos, their sensual touches, and how they slowly let down their guard confessing their heartbreaking backstories to one another. They both suffered from a tragic past, but helped each other heal. The storyline is so unexpected and unique, and nothing like I've read before.

This was no slow burn! Even though they knew the risks of being friends and business partners who became intimate, the got to the good stuff pretty quickly! But their coupling resonates with your soul because they were similar in so many ways. They both loved culture, good food, and exploring beautiful places. They appreciated nature and art, had the same business goals and work ethic, and had a mural respect and personal interest in each other.

I loved how honest and open they were, their maturity, and their direct communication when expressing their feelings. There was tension when they returned from their week-long, mutually agreed upon, sexy romp and role-playing business filled with pleasure adventure, and you will just have to read this steamy tale for yourself to see how Daniel and Scarlett finally get their own HEA...and it will fill your heart with glee.

My One Week Husband is delightful, decadent, and deliciously dirty. It made me swoon, laugh, and cry, and is a book I will be reading again and again. I can't wait for the audio, especially to hear Daniel's sexy English accent. I also can't wait to read how Scarlett's friend Nadia gets her chance at love with her brother's best friend, an all-star baseball player in The Virgin Rule Book up next.

4.5 stars!

I love books about fake relationships and this one did not disappoint. It’s business partners turned best friends turned fake husband and wife turned lovers, and I adored it. It’s sexy, swoony, and full of heart, and I was invested from the start, unable to wait to see how the story unfolded.
Do we have to draw a line between fantasy and reality? Or for one glorious week, can we exist in this blurred world?

Scarlett’s life was turned upside down when she is blindsided by her husband’s lies. Now, she’s been all work and no play for the last three years. However, that hasn’t stopped her from noticing how amazing and attractive Daniel, her business partner and best friend is. All they’ve ever been is friends though because they don’t want to ruin their professional relationship or the wonderful friendship they have found together.

When they are given the opportunity to scope out potential properties, their other business partner thinks it would be an good idea to go as visitors instead of potential buyers. And what better way to see the hotels than as honeymooners? So that is exactly what they pretend to be. Can Scarlett and Daniel play the part and land the deal or will the attraction that has been brewing between finally burst?

The whole trip tips Scarlett of kilter. She likes everything to be orderly and nothing about Daniel makes her feel that way. Yet, she decides to go all in when it comes to the tryst. Why not have a little fun while they check out the hotels? And fun they have!! Whoa! Daniel and Scarlett really know how to turn up the heat. There is some serious steam between them once they allow themselves to play the role of husband and wife. It’s all kinds of naughty and dirty, and they let go and open up like never before.

Pretending collides with reality and there is no denying that they are meant to be. Their connection is believable and the electricity between them is palpable. Everything feels real and I was giddy every time I saw how perfect they are for each other.

Scarlett and Daniel’s story is more emotional than I was expecting. The feelings and heartbreak are real, and the healing and love are bright.  I felt the fear of messing up their friendship and business relationship as well as the drive to go for it, and I love that they knew when to take the risk.
“Do you know what it’s like to finally have you?...It’s like I’m finally having everything I want. And it feels like a frenzied, fevered dream.”

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. Blakely has taken a popular trope and made it her own. It’s original and so much fun! I loved it!
