Publisher's summary

What happens when two frenemies can't stop pushing each other's buttons? Find out in this tender, laugh-out-loud-funny romance from number-one New York Times best-selling author Lauren Blakely, available in audio first!

Never Have I Ever been so infuriated by a man I wanted to kiss.

They say opposites attract, but I beg to differ. Combust is more like it. Because every single time I talk to Zach Nolan, I see red.

The too-good-looking, too-smart, too-effortlessly-charming single dad who works down the hall from me has turned getting under my skin into a sport. Call it the battle of wits between the wedding planner and the divorce attorney.

Trouble is, when we’re forced into closer quarters, planning an engagement party for our best friends, I start to see his other sides.

And I fear I’m falling for the enemy.

***

I’m not out to make friends. My goals are simple - fight till the end for my clients, and my family.

The last thing I need is a vibrant, outgoing, snarky, and surprisingly big-hearted wedding planner to spend my precious free time with...except, watching Piper bond with my daughter just might break down the cinder block walls I’ve built around my heart these last few years.

Second chances don’t come around for guys like me...or do they?

5 fulfilling stars!!! Loved every single utterance

I can't even believe how much I loved this story. Zach is so sweet. He's so insecure. That kiss... oh, you know the one or will when you read/listen to it, GOOD LORD, I FELT that kiss... Wow! Piper and Zach.... they hate each other so, not at all... so much they might just fall in love. I can definitely tell you that I fell in love with them! I was beyond smitten with both main characters and Zach's children. The entire storyline was fantastic... if I wasn't literally laughing out loud, than I had this wistful and happy smile on my face, and I ended the book with tears streaming down my face (no joke)!!!

Jason Clarke had me giggling. I'm in love with the way Jason Clarke narrates little boys and his Bristish accent. I love that at one point wanker was nearly said half a dozen times in this delightfully British voice. I was so obsessed with the way he could change his voice. Now, Amanda Ronconi was fabulous!! I just love her voice. It's upbeat and fun and it's just an overall pleasant and happy voice. I can't help but want to listen to more books with her narration. She's an absolute gem... a peach!!

Frenemies to lovers

Is it possible to just float from all the deliciousness of listening to a Lauren Blakely book? Yes, it is especially when it is narrated by Jason Clarke and Amanda Ronconi.

Zach Nolan is 10 kinds of "hot sexy man". He's a shark in the courtroom, he's an A+ single dad and he's an expert in giving his frenemy a hard time.

Piper Radcliff is a wedding planner extraordinaire. She has devoted her life to her business and has little time for love even though that is her business. Her office neighbor and long term frenemy irritates her to no end, that is until he doesn't.

Zach and Piper have a wonderful build up with all their banter back and forth and with them being friends in the same circle as well as sharing an office when their built up attraction finally explodes it is game on. Oh yes, this all begins with the game Never Have I Ever. Truths can be revealed in an innocent game or maybe it's not so innocent after all.

This audiobook is amazing. The story is fantastic. There is snarky back and forth, fireworks attractions, tender love, family, friends, and just living life in the best ways possible. Then add on the added bonus of getting to listen to Jason Clarke and Amanda Ronconi and it is a win win all the way.

I received an early copy of the audiobook to listen and review and give my honest opinion. This is a definite 5 stars for me. Love the story, and the narration is perfect.

More Please

Listening to a Lauren Blakely book is like watching your favorite Rom-Com. I say this because she and the narrators are so talented it is as if you are watching the story play out in your head like a movie.

This story is no different I love the Frenemies to lovers, the banter and the one-liners to the wit it’s fun and funny and makes for one heck of an interesting story.

Zach and his past will pull on your heartstrings and Piper and her openness makes you want to root for her. You want them to see each other as something more. I loved the falling in love it is always my favorite part. But also the fact that it wasn’t just them it was also his children and how they are so a part of the story you fall for the whole thing.

Le Sigh I loved it. I loved that Amanda Ronconi and Jason Clarke feel like these characters and not like they are just reading. I loved it 100% hope we get more Amanda in Lauren’s books.

Lauren Blakely has a way with words.

Lauren Blakely has a way with words. It's not what she writes, but the way she presents it. Never Have I Ever finds the smile hiding behind the frustration. Zach and Piper bring out the worst in each other. The wedding planner and the divorce lawyer can't agree on anything. It's an uphill battle until a surprising twist has them seeing each other in a whole new light. Blakely provides the emotion, Clarke and Ronconi add the funny and Piper and Zach give off the heat. Over the top becomes larger than life.

Finally — A Couple Who Communicates

This might be the first book ever that didn’t have the couple breaking up in the middle — or towards the end — because of a misunderstanding or failure to communicate. How incredibly refreshing!! Zach and Piper and great together — and Zach as a Dad is wonderful. As a single parent, it’s nice to see the struggle we all feel with guilt over not being there for our kids 24/7. Thank you Lauren, I love all of your books, but this might be my favorite.

NEVER HAVE I EVER.. not loved her stories

Never have I ever been disappointed with a Lauren Blakely book.. never have I ever thought “meh what chemistry?”.. never have I ever been tempted by another book while listening to one of hers.. never have I ever done anything but marvel at her wonderfully wide and varied storylines. Never have i ever been disappointed with her choice of narrators.. never have I ever done anything but love her characters.. never have i ever not laughed at her humor.. and never have i ever not been touched by her passionate, tender, loving scenes. And in this story LB once again ups the ante with a frenemies plotline between two very different people from the same group of friends whose impenetrable walls finally start to crumble allowing them to look beyond the barriers and truly see the person that's been protecting their hearts all along.

A a shark of a Divorce Attorney who is also a widower with baggage and father of two.. and a once divorced Wedding Planner have years of bickering to their backstory, have angst-ridden barbed banter and verbal missiles between them and have a hundred reasons why a relationship between them shouldn’t and couldn't work. But luckily for them (and us), Ms Blakely weaves her magic, spins her addictive and entertaining tale and creates a dual POV story that’s packed full of deliciously impressive feels as they chart the muddy waters of a future together. Jason Clarke (..sigh) is brilliant as ever and so too is Amanda Ronconi and between them they became the characters, brought a wealth of emotion and ensured that this was another 5 star audiobook.

Worth a credit? Yup absolutely.. but it's another chance to Escape with Audible for free.. oh lucky lucky us.

I'm still swooning...

Never have I ever been disappointed with a Lauren Blakely book-and this one? This one is hands down one of my favorites. Frenemies to lovers and a single dad? Yes, please! This book made me smile and swoon and even brought me to tears.

Piper and Zach were an absolute delight to get to know. They're part of the same group of friends, but not exactly friendly initially which just made their interactions that much more fun. The banter between them had me smiling, and the way their relationship evolved just felt so natural and organic. I fell for Zach before Piper did; he just absolutely had my heart from the very start. These characters felt real and like people I would want to hang out with-so I'm ready to join their group of friends.

As mentioned above, Zach is a single dad. The interactions he has with his kids in this book were so incredible. I loved watching him figure out how to balance everyone and their needs-including his own. He's smart, sexy and has a sweet side that just made me melt. Piper is much the same way-and her kind and giving heart just made me smile.

The writing of this book is just superb. It's witty and fun and it just flows perfectly. I personally love how this Author weaves in characters (and places!) we've met before, but this is absolutely enjoyable as a standalone.

These narrators brought this book to life for me. I adore Jason Clarke (who doesn't) and I love all of his different tones and inflections for different characters. Amanda Ronconi was newer to me but her timing and tone were just impeccable. These two played off each other seamlessly and just were delightful to listen to. I didn't want to stop listening to this story!

I would honestly give this more stars for both the performance and the story if I could. I truly believe these narrators nailed these characters and brought them to life so very well. As for the story, I said before and I'll say again that this is one of my favorite Lauren Blakely books. This is heart, humor and heat with a side of sweet. I loved it and can't wait to listen again.

A Defiance of Second Best

Overall 5 stars
Performance 5 stars*
Story 4.5 stars

This was such a fantastic listen! Never Have I Ever was such a great blend of funny, sexy, and heartfelt moments. It has all the classic Lauren Blakely romcom laughs, but it also has some very tender and emotional scenes too. This story has a little bit of everything, from enemies to lovers, to single parent, to forced proximity.

I loved Zach and Piper! Their playful back and forth heightened the sexual tension between them so deliciously. Truthfully, I wouldn't have minded if they stayed in the enemies/frenemies zone longer! Events in their pasts have left them feeling vulnerable and guarded, but as they each open themselves up to possibility, those defenses drop and it really is beautiful. I appreciated so much that our characters were mature adults who (for the most part) spoke openly and honestly about what they wanted and desired. They don't play games and there isn't a whole lot of angst or unnecessary drama. Zach is always a father first, and I loved that the happiness of his children was always his top priority. His relationship with Henry and Lucy was so sweet, especially his bond with Lucy. Girl Power! The scene between Lucy, Zach, and Piper at the end warmed my heart so much and was beyond perfect. I'm not usually the biggest fan of the deceased spouse trope, but Blakely handled it so realistically and beautifully that I couldn't not root for Piper and Zach.

Jason Clarke and Amanda Ronconi were amazing! I was so impressed by their versatility and ability to convey so much emotion in their performances. This is my first time hearing Amanda Ronconi, but what a treat it was! This audiobook couldn't have been more perfectly cast! I think my only minor issue with the audio overall is that there seemed to be some static or fuzziness when both narrators spoke loudly or emphatically. Almost like they were too close to the microphone? I'm not sure what caused it, but it made their words not as clear. It didn't detract from the story, but was something that I noticed.

Never Have I Ever felt a little more serious than some of Lauren Blakely's lighter romcoms, but it's definitely worth the credit! You don't want to miss this heartwarming love story!
